Honeybee Swarms
Honeybee swarms are part and parcel of beekeeping and are the natural way a colony reproduces. However, they are disturbing for neighbours and the public and a nuisance to beekeepers since they come with the loss of much of the foraging force of a colony - and the queen!
Despite beekeepers trying to avoid swarms, they do happen, particularly when inclement weather has prevented normal routine beekeeping activities. If you happen to have a swarm land on your property we can help!
Many of our experienced beekeepers collect swarms on a voluntary basis and donate them to new beekeepers or use them to make up for winter colony losses.
Find a local swarm collector
The British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) has an excellent tool to help you find your nearest swarm collector. Click on the image below and put in your postcode - please enable cookies. If you struggle to get hold of someone please call Simon on 07971 068 625 for your swarm to be allocated to an available collector.
Bees in buildings
Sadly, we cannot help with colonies of bees already established in buildings (e.g. within roof spaces, soffits and chimneys). Our members aren't insured to carry out colony removal in these instances and they are much harder to deal with than a transient swarm. Please follow this link to find a solution to your problem.
